Brett Dunevant - Owner | Lead Instructor
With a knack for creativity, grace, and leadership, Brett opened Barre South in the Spring of 2016. After graduating from James Madison University in 2008 with a major in Public Relations and minor in Dance, she moved to Charleston and lived out a childhood dream before moving back to Virginia. While living in Richmond, VA, she longed to find something to fulfill her love for ballet. Soon after marrying her husband, Brandon, in 2012, Brett took her first barre class and quickly became accustomed to it. It didn’t take long for barre to replace that thrill and passion for dance. Not only did she fall in love with the intensity, music, and physical challenges of the work out, she loved the instructors and dedication they put forth towards their clients. Brett became a barre instructor in 2013 and was captivated by the inspiration and drive she received through the experience of teaching and working with clients. Brett’s mission at Barre South in Mt Pleasant is to make everyone’s experience one that will have them walking out of class feeling stronger, refreshed, and accomplished.

Krista Gorman is a Charleston native. She is an interior designer by day and barre instructor by night. Fitness has been one of her passions for years, but she has always loved dancing. Barre classes combined these two things together for Krista, while providing immediate fitness results! A few words to describe her include: lover of dark chocolate, impromptu dance moves, beach days, fashion, fine china, and handwritten notes. She is a newlywed to her soccer loving husband, Joey, and they live in a quaint townhome in Park Circle in North Charleston.
Jenan lives in Mt Pleasant with her husband Bryant, 5 year old daughter Isla, and mini labradoodle, Goji. She is an advocate for an organic, whole foods lifestyle and loves painting, beach outings, and cooking. She is currently the Senior Sales Manager at Itz'ana Resort & Residences, a luxury waterfront real estate community in Belize. Jenan was initially drawn to Barre four years ago following the birth of her daughter and was amazed at the transformation (both physically and mentally) that barre brought to her body after a few short months. She is thrilled to share her passion for barre, an exercise she believes is truly unique in its ability to provide maximum results in a fun, musically driven, empowering methodology.
Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, Liz is a bit of a nomad. Charleston was the first city that ever felt like home, and in 2013 Liz graduated with a degree in Sociology from College of Charleston. It wasn't until her first barre class in 2014 that she actually became captivated with health and fitness. Barre gave Liz the confidence to keep exploring new fitness modalities, like yoga and weight training, led her to her first fitness competition, and inspired her fascination with nutrition. If she's not at the barre studio or the gym, you can probably find her in the kitchen concocting new varieties of tacos.
Lea has loved dance since high school where she was on a top ten dance team in the Midwest. In college, she helped start the school's first dance team and after school she instructed Zumba for a few years. Once she found barre, she fell in love with the workout and the amazing results that came with it! Outside of the barre studio, Lea is pursuing her Masters degree in Environmental Education and teaching at the South Carolina Aquarium. She and her husband are also the event planning coordinators at her apartment community, Riviera at Seaside, where they throw fun events for the residents. When not teaching barre or at the aquarium, Lea can be found trying out the newest restaurants in town satisfying her foodie soul!

After that very first class, she was hooked! Always fitness-focused, she found barre to be a new and exciting challenge that propelled her toward many new things, one being teaching! Sarah is a paralegal at a large law firm in downtown Charleston and full-time mother of two fantastic boys. Together, they call James Island home.
